Academic Studies

St. Finian’s is a College of the Diocese of Meath. It has a national reputation as a school of academic excellence. Its students excel in the Junior and Leaving Certificate Examinations.  The College has introduced a new and exciting Transition Year programme since September 2017.

The academic programme is supported by excellent facilities including modern classrooms, specialist classrooms for Home Economics, Art, Technology, Technical Graphics and four fully equipped Science Laboratories. A new state-of-the-art Music Centre was opened in September 2015.

Close contact is maintained with parents at all times with three detailed reports issued in each academic year. Parents are always welcome to make an appointment to speak with any member of staff.

In addition to the annual parent-teacher meeting, the Parents’ Council maintains a close link with the College authorities.

Two career guidance counsellors provide professional help to all students, in particular to senior pupils who are at the stage of making their future career decisions.

Supervised study facilities are provided for all students.

A wide range of subject options is available to students.

An Open Evening for the Academic Year 2018-2019 will be held on 13th/14th October 2017.

All prospective students and their parents will be most welcome.
